Nam Con Son Gas Pipeline Company (NCSP) revealed that: The entire operation of Nam Con Son gas processing system is going to be stopped for periodic major maintenance (the maintenance time will coincide with the gas supply downtime of offshore platforms)
Nam Con Son Gas Transportation and Processing System is a state-level key project in the oil and gas field, plays an important role in ensuring national energy security, supplying about 15% of the total national electricity output. The major maintenance (Turnaround - TAR) must be performed strictly periodically (once every 5 years) in order to ensure the absolute safety and reliability of the system.
Based on the agreed coordination plan of all partners in the Nam Con Son gas system, Nam Con Son Gas Pipeline Company (NCSP) will stop supplying gas completely to carry out major maintenance (Turnaround - TAR 2021) continuously for 5 days (from September 1, 2021 to September 5, 2021), in which, 4.5 days of implementation and 5 days of backup at Long Hai valve station, Factory Nam Con Son gas treatment plant and Phu My gas distribution plant, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. During this period, the Plant will completely stop receiving, processing and transporting gas.

The Nam Con Son Gas Pipeline Project has a maximum transporting and processing capacity of 22 million m3 of gas/day and night. With the approval of the three partners namely PetroVietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS) and foreign partners including Rosneft Group - Russia and Perenco Group - France, the entire Nam Con Son gas system will be stopped to periodic major maintenance (the maintenance time will coincide with the gas supply downtime of offshore platforms).
In this major maintenance, the preparation work of NCSP has been started since October 2020 and has been completed 100% up to now, starting to mobilize manpower, equipment and personnel of Contractors to the construction site for occupational safety training and to familiarize themselves with the site to perform the assigned tasks.
TAR 2021 is expected to have 50 work packages, with 113 tasks to be completed. In particular, 3 of the 50 work packages must be carried out on torches over 80 meters high, which will be done by a dedicated contractor with special equipment. The remaining 47 packages are carried out by NCSP staff with the participation of a number of experts and mechanics, assembled domestic. In the complicated context of the Covid-19 pandemic, NCSP will strive to complete the tasks to ensure the safety and absolute reliability of the system.
According to EVN, the implementation of TAR 2021 of the Nam Con Son gas project takes place in the rainy season, the power supply capacity of hydropower plants is high, so it will maximize the capacity of hydroelectric plants and renewable energy to ensure that national electricity output is not affected during maintenance.
